Uttar Pradesh Launches ‘Kaushal Setu’ and ‘Kaushal Sarathi’ – New Initiatives for Digital Skill Development and Employment Empowerment
On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day 2026, the Uttar Pradesh government launched two digital platforms—‘Kaushal Setu’ and ‘Kaushal Sarathi’—under the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM), aiming to digitize skill development and employment services. ‘Kaushal Setu’ facilitates online registration and paperless administrative processes for training institutes, while ‘Kaushal Sarathi’ provides youth with information regarding training centers, courses, and employment opportunities. The state government has partnered with KLK Private Limited and Winsome Textile Industries Limited to promote industry-based training and employment in sectors such as AI, robotics, and the textile industry. This initiative strengthens digital governance, the skill-based economy, industry-academia collaboration, and youth employability, while also reinforcing the goals of SDG-4 and SDG-8.

Meanwhile, ‘Kaushal Sarathi’ is a digital platform developed for youth, students, and job seekers, providing centralized information on state training centers, available courses, training partners, and employment opportunities.
Skill Development and Industry Collaboration
The state government has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with KLK Private Limited and Winsome Textile Industries Limited to align skill training with industry requirements. These partnerships aim to promote industry-based training, internships, employment assistance, and skill upgradation. A special focus has been placed on emerging sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and the textile industry.
Significance of World Youth Skills Day
These portals were launched on July 15—World Youth Skills Day. This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2014 to highlight the importance of equipping youth with the skills necessary for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. The day is also linked to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG-4: Quality Education) and SDG-8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

This initiative promotes digital governance, e-governance, a skill-based economy, and employment-oriented development. Digital platforms will enhance transparency, administrative efficiency, training quality, and industry-academia coordination. This will boost the employability of the youth and help strengthen the state's human capital.
